A unique Georgian ring set with a cabochon of Venetian mosaic glass known as millefiori.
The ring likely was a private commission during someone’s visit to the city of Venice as part of the grand tour. You can imagine an elegantly dressed and stylish woman with her own unique taste having visited one of the glass workshops, she perhaps would have watched this piece of glass containing a thousand flowers being made, later deciding to take it to be mounted as a ring, to be kept as a souvenir of her visit to the city.
It is rare to find a piece of millefiori made on this scale with so many “flowers” within its matrix.
